Like most high end office chairs, the Aeron chair is made to be fixed rather than thrown away and replaced.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Aeron chair
  • pen and paper
  • internet
  1. Step 1

Look for a sticker under the seat of the chair.
Most Aeron chairs are sold under warranty. The warranty follows the chair, not the owner. As long as the sticker with the order number and date is still on the bottom, it's worth looking into.

  2. Step 2

If you find the sticker, write down all the information on it.

  3. Step 3

Find the Herman Miller dealer nearest to you. Herman Miller has a directory on their main site for this.

  4. Step 4

Contact the local dealer with all the information on the sticker, and what's broken and ask if the Aeron chair is still under warranty. Warranty times can vary by the organization that first purchased the chair. Soft parts aren't covered. Herman Miller will generally send a repair person to you to repair hard parts if the break is covered.

  5. Step 5

If there is no warranty, ask for a quote for parts and labor. The cost of the repairs may sound high, but it will generally be lower than the cost of a new Aeron chair. You should definitely get the chair repaired if it's just the hydraulics that have broken.

Tips & Warnings
  • Warranty times vary by the original purchaser, but 5 years is common. This is actually short for a high end office chair. Most are guaranteed for 10 years.
