How to Plan Letter Y Activities for Preschoolers

These letter recognition activities will help your preschooler learn the letter Y. Spread these activities out over several days so your preschooler has plenty of opportunities to interact with the letter Y.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Introduce your child to the letter Y. Practice making the sound of the letter Y.

  2. Step 2

    Create a yarn picture. Cut pieces of yarn in different colors and lengths. Have your child glue the pieces of yarn onto a piece of paper to create a picture.

  3. Step 3

    Make yogurt parfaits. Layer yogurt, fresh fruit and granola in a cup. Repeat the layers until the cup is full.

  4. Step 4

    Practice playing with yo yos. Teach your child yo yo tricks or allow her to make up her own yo you play.

  5. Step 5

    Make a collage of yellow objects. Gather yellow objects or find yellow items in magazines. Glue them on to a piece of yellow construction paper.

  6. Step 6

    Review the letter Y and the sound that it makes.
