The letter U doesn't have quite as many words to choose from when creating letter recognition activities. But there are still plenty of fun letter U activities to do with your preschooler.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Introduce the letter U to your preschooler. Show her the shape of the letter. Discuss the sound the letter U makes and words that start with the letter U.

  2. Step 2

Play with an umbrella. Play in the rain or set up a sprinkler if the weather is nice. Let your child play with the umbrella.

  3. Step 3

Dress up in uniforms. Gather several different uniforms and allow your preschooler to dress up in them. Talk about the jobs of the people who wear each outfit.

  4. Step 4

Make a beaded letter U. Bend a pipe cleaner into a letter U shape. String beads onto the pipe cleaner. Reshape the pipe cleaner into a U shape as necessary.

  5. Step 5

Review the letter U and the sound that it makes. Talk about the words that start with the letter U.
