We don't want our children to leave home, but when they do, a part of us can go too, with care packages.

Your child is moving out and into his/her own home, very exciting for them, and maybe a little bit scary. We may feel the same, a little excited for them, and a little scared for them. We might feel lonely with them gone, or we might say FINALLY!!! But whatever we feel, we can send piece of us with them, with a care package made with love. They don't have to be fancy, and it doesn't have to cost you very much, as long as you put the package together with love. OH! and if you're thinking about turning his/her bedroom into a craft room, office or etc. for yourself, you might want to wait for a little while incase he/she misses you too much and wants to come back home.

Difficulty: Easy

    For the kitchen:
In a dish pan or dish drainer, add items like aluminum foil, cling wrap, different size zip-lock baggies, dish soap, a pot holder or two, and maybe a nice set of dish towels and dish cloths.

  2. Step 2
Bathroom supplies. I know my picture is sideway, but I couldn't get it turned around.

    For the bathroom:
In a nice laundry hamper, add items like a nice set of bath towels, hand towels and washcloths, bath soap, shampoo/conditioner (if you know what brands they like), Bathroom cleaners, and maybe a couple aroma therapy candles.

  3. Step 3

    Laundry supplies.

    For the Laundry room:
In a nice laundry basket, add items like laundry soap, Bleach, dryer sheets, laundry stain remover and maybe even instructions (if it's your son) on how to do laundry, most young men already know how, but there are some that don't.

  4. Step 4
A little something special for his/her bedroom. This picture is the same way as the pic in step 2.

For the bedroom: The bedroom is personal, private and their own space, but we can still get him/her a little something, like a special quilt, a set of sheets, scented candles, a nice journal and maybe even a plant that doesn't require sunlight.

  5. Step 5
Give him/her something that he/she can do alone in the yard.

    For the yard:
In a large, nice planter, or a couple of small ones, add items like a small set of gardening tools, a water hose, a few packets of flower seeds instead of flower plants so that he/she can plant them himself/herself.

  6. Step 6
And the best part, food for his/her tummy.

And whatever you do, don't forget the food package, with lots of vegitables, and healthy snacks. OK, maybe a few homemade cookies too.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pick up little tips and ideas of the things he/she likes for sure.
  • Add a nice big bow to the top of the items that are in the containers to make it more personal and special from mom, or mom and dad.
  • Don't give dishes, that's probably something they want to pick out on their own. Unless you take him/her shopping with you.
  • Don't give bath soaps or shampoos/conditioners, unless you know for sure what he/she likes to use.
