Things You'll Need:
- Wall decorations
- Plants
- Flameless candles
- Paint
-
Step 1
Walls painted a Butter Yellow colorI'll start off with the easiest idea to spruce up your laundry room and that is to simply paint it! Have fun with it but make it appealing so you'll love this space. Laundry rooms tend to be small spaces so try to pick a lighter color to brighten up the room.
-
Step 2
House PlantsNext, add plants on counter tops or hang them from the ceiling. Live plants are healthy for your indoor environment and add a sense of life to the room.
-
Step 3
CandlesAdd flameless candles to your laundry room decor to make it a soothing environment to be in. Don't use real candles with all of the clothes laying around as well as a gas dryer running. Flameless candles provide a warm glow and many brands flicker just like a real flame.
-
Step 4
Laundry Room SignsThis is the fun part! Look for signs that are related to doing laundry. I found many of the signs pictured in antique stores. They are fun to read and make your time in your laundry room all the more cheerful!
-
Step 5
Laundry WashboardLook for an old time washboard and mount it to the wall in your laundry room to add to the look. It will remind you too that you have it so easy compared to how people used to clean their clothes!!
-
Step 6
Antique ToolsHang old tools such as an old cast iron that was used before electric irons. Some are small enough like the one pictured that you can hang them.
-
Step 7
Good Luck Horse ShoeLast, add an old horseshoe over a window or doorway for good luck! It looks great!

on 7/5/2009 Funny you mention wash boards. I used to use one when my children were small, before I could afford a washing machine. Fun article. Thanks!
