How to Obtain Your Annual Free Credit Report

It is very beneficial to stay on top of your financial situation and to know what information is on your credit report. It is simple to obtain an credit report for each credit bureau and is free on an annual basis.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Visit the website www.annualcreditreport.com. Select the state that you live in from the drop down menu, and hit "Request Report."

  2. Step 2

    Enter all of your information. Be sure to input your information correctly, and to fill in any boxes with an asterisk (*) next to them, as they are a requirement. Once you have done this, hit "Continue."

  3. Step 3

    Next you will need to select the credit bureaus that you would like to obtain a credit report from. You can select one, two or all three credit bureaus.

  4. Step 4

    You will then be directed to each credit bureau that you have selected one a at a time. You will need to verify your identity by answering a few questions.

  5. Step 5

    After viewing your credit report on the first bureau, click the "Return to Annual Credit Report" button at the top of the page, and you will be returned to Annual Credit Report and you can then proceed to the next credit bureau.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is a good idea to print a copy of your credit report from each credit bureau, to keep for your records.
