How to Become an Apprentice

1. Find out what you want to do the apprenticeship in. There are currently over 180 apprenticeships out there so there's bound to be something to suit.

   Search for your apprenticeship using websites such as www.notgoingtouni.co.uk (for major employers) and www.apprenticeships.org.uk (for small employers). It is also worth checking local newspapers for jobs.

3. Make sure you understand how the training will take place, which days you will be working and all the info you can on the employer.

4. Apply for the apprenticeship using websites like www.notgoingtouni.co.uk or apply for an application form to fill in. Be prepared for a telephone interview and/or face-to-face interview. Major employers of apprentices often require their applicants to complete an 'aptitude test'.

5. Ask the right questions, be proactive and positive and by step 5 you might just be a new apprentice!
