Surfboards are expensive and, to an extent, delicate. Here's what you need to know to extend the life of your surfboard.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wax
  • Water
  • A safe place to store it
  1. Step 1

When carrying your surfboard, be careful not to bang it into things (like doorways). Surfboards can easily get dinged. You should also have a safe way to transport your surfboard to the beach. If you use surf racks, make sure you know how to use them.

  2. Step 2

Store your surfboard out of the sun. Direct sunlight on a dry board can cause the fiberglass coating to crack. If that happens, water can seep in and destroy your surfboard's core. If you have one, keep your surfboard in a board bag when it's not in use.

  3. Step 3

After each session, wash your surfboard off with fresh water. Every so often remove all the wax on your board and start anew. This will also give you a chance to inspect your surfboard for any dings you may not have noticed.
