A snapshot of a website can add extra emphasis to links, articles and other content. The same method of capturing snapshots of websites can be used to capture your desktop or software screens. Snapshots also add a pictorial guide to your tutorials.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • !Quick Screen Capture software
  • PC computer
  • Photo editing program

    The Steps

  1. Step 1

Download a copy of !Quick Screen Capture. This is an open source program available at Etrusoft.com. Install the software on to your PC computer.

  2. Step 2

Open the software and go to the start bar to open your Internet browser to the web page you want to snapshot.

  3. Step 3

Go to the start bar and open the capturing software over top of the browser.

  4. Step 4

Left click "Capture" in the menu at the top of the software. Select "Full Screen" from the pull-down menu to take a picture of the entire browser, or select another choice if you want to take a snapshot of a specific portion of the browser.

  5. Step 5

Once the software takes the snapshot, a dialog box will appear to prompt you to save the snapshot. Select one of the file formats; JPEG, GIF, or BMP. Save and open the file in a photo editing program to edit or resize the photo to your desire

Tips & Warnings
  • Know the file format you need for your photo editing program or purpose before starting. BMP file formats are large. Don't use this format unless that is what is specified for your needs. JPEG or GIF files are most commonly used for Internet and other purposes.

on 9/27/2009 Hello honey - Please do not get me wrong I am quite new to the internet and even to Personal Computers. But I think my eldest son has tought me, that if I want to capture an image of what I am actually seeing on screen (most likely to report any kind of error to my son) I just hav to hit the PrtSc key on the keyboard, then open up a paint programm right click and chose "paste". This sound far more easy to me than a programm you have to download and install and understand.
