How to Convert Mov Files to MPG Files

Download Handbrake software

Browse to http://handbrake.fr/ and click "download" in the left column.

Choose the version of Handbrake appropriate for your computer and operating system and click on the download link.

Once the installer package is saved to your computer, locate and run it if your browser does not automatically.

Follow the onscreen instructions to install Handbrake to the folder of your choice.
Convert your MOV files

Open Handbrake and familiarize yourself with its interface. The basic features are represented with toolbar buttons near the top while more advanced features are represented with tabs in the center/lower area.

Choose the MOV file you'd like to convert. Click on the "Source" button and select "Video file". Browse to the desired MOV file and double click it. Handbrake will automatically analyze the file and display the name and path in the "Source" box, right below the toolbar buttons.

Choose where you'd like to save the new MPG file. Click on "Browse" in the "Destination" box, located right below the "Source" box. Browse to your desired path and type the desired file name in the box. In the "Save as file type" box, choose "mp4".

Start the conversion process. Now that you have your source and destination files designated, it's time to start encoding. Click "Start" in the toolbar and Handbrake will do the rest.
