How to Cook Corn on a Gas Grill

Every year around Memorial Day, people all across the U.S. break out their charcoal or gas grills to start the summer grilling season. They cook beef, pork, chicken and fish in a variety of forms and styles, and many also cook side dishes next to their main courses. Baked potatoes, caramelized onions and corn on the cob are just some of the possibilities. Corn is a universal favorite for cookouts and picnics and is very easy to cook on a gas grill.   • Aluminum foil
  • Butter or margarine

      Heat the grill to 400F to 450F.

      Tear off a sheet of aluminum foil large enough to wrap your ear of corn in three to four layers. Place the ear of corn, a pat of butter and salt to taste in the foil sheet.

      Roll the aluminum foil around the corn and twist the ends before folding the ends over. This will help the steam remain inside the foil. Place the wrapped corn on the grill and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, turning three to four times.

      Remove the corn from the grill and let it cool enough to be handled before serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your can get corn still in its husks, you can place it directly on the grill without wrapping in aluminum foil. Cook the same as the wrapped corn, except you will add salt and butter to taste when served. You can can cook your corn alongside most main courses. For steaks that are seared at high temperatures, cook the corn first, and then raise the heat for the steaks.
