Azureus is considered one of the largest file-sharing clients on the Internet. This program gives Internet browsers the ability to download software, applications, and media files such as music, movies, and virtual games. This type of downloading program is mostly used for files that are larger than the average download. Configuring Azureus can be done by anyone with basic computer skills.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the Azureus program. The Azureus icon is a blue, thumbnail image of a white frog. Its subtitle will read, "Vuze". This icon should be located on your computer's desktop screen. Double-click on the icon and allow the program to load completely before conducting any commands.

  2. Step 2

Access the Azureus Configuration Panel. Click on the "Tools" tab, located in the navigation menu at the top of the screen, and select "Options" in the drop box list. When the "Options" portal opens, click on the "Transfer" option located on the side panel of the screen.

  3. Step 3

Adjust your upload and download speed settings. When the "Transfer" window opens, click on the rectangular data forms to adjust the settings. The maximum upload speed should be configured to 15. The maximum upload slots should be no larger than 5. The maximum number of connections per torrent should be no larger than 120 and no smaller than 80. All other slots should be set to zero.

  4. Step 4

Choose where you'd like to have your files stored. Double-click on the "Files" tab in the left pane of the screen. When the "Files" screen loads, click on the second folder file icon on the right side of the lower drop box bar. Choose the location where you'd like to store your torrent files once the downloading process is complete. Click "OK' to close the window.

  5. Step 5

Change the "Queue" settings. You will see three options below the "Queue" configurations when the screen loads. Only check the first option that reads, "Move Newly Completed Torrents to the Front of the Seeding List". Remove the check from the second option. Click "Save" to confirm and apply all changes.

Tips & Warnings
  • The program must be installed on your computer to conduct the configuration process. If you do not have the program installed, click on the Azureus link listed in Resources, to download and install the program to your computer. Be sensible when choosing your upload and download speeds. The speed at which your program can operate on depends solely upon your computer's Internet connection.
  • Do not close Azureus or disconnect your Internet connection while it is updating. Azureus may suffer potential downloading response errors if there is a breach in the program's connection to the Internet. Do not change any of the recommended transfer slots that are defaulted at zero. It is best to leave these settings as they are, in order to maintain a stable connection between the Internet and the Azureus Vuze server.
