How to Wash a Stroller

How to Wash a Stroller thumbnail
Stroller

Since strollers are mainly used outdoors, and since messes are not uncommon when babies and toddlers are around, strollers tend to need washing fairly often. You will want to clean them so that your baby doesn't pick up any germs and so that the stroller will last for as long as you need it. The fabric, the metal parts and the wheels can all be cleaned using different simple approaches.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Look over the fabric parts of the stroller. If you find only a small stain or two you may not want to go through the hassle of washing the entire stroller. Take out a Shout stain stick and put some on the stain. Wait 20 minutes and come back with some cold water and a rag. Wipe the area until the stain comes out. Allow the spot to dry naturally.

    • 2

If you decide the entire stroller needs washing, find the snaps on the fabric. Almost all strollers come apart. Unsnap the fabric pieces.

    • 3

Set your washing machine for a small load and cold water. Warm or hot water can cause the fabric to shrink. Use laundry detergent made for sensitive skin.

    • 4

Use Clorox disinfecting wipes to wipe down the metal parts of the stroller while your fabric parts are in the washing machine.

    • 5

Take your stroller outside to finish washing it. Hose down the wheels, which will get off most of the dirt. Then use an old rag soaked in soapy dish water to wipe the rest of the dirt off the wheels. Then rinse the wheels off again with the hose.

    • 6

Set the fabric out to air-dry. Don't place it in a dryer. The heat could cause the fabric to shrink. If you're in a hurry, then place some fans in front of the fabric.

    • 7

Dry the metal parts of your stroller with another rag and then snap the fabric back onto the stroller.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use a disinfecting spray instead of the wipes.
