June, July and August are traditionally known as the summer months. There are 92 days, or 13 weeks, or 13 weekends within that three months time period. Use this breakdown of time to your advantage. Schedule your home projects by the day, by the week, or by the weekend to spruce up your home interior by the end of summer.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Schedule the urgent jobs first. Update old and worn out mechanical systems in your home. For example, install new toilets, replace old facets with new faucets, install new bathroom exhaust fans, replace old bathtubs or have them reglazed, or install new/different light fixtures, etc.

Note: Use professional plumbers and electricians for safety and to make sure you are following the construction codes of your city and county.

  2. Step 2

Schedule the work based on the rooms that need to be painted. Choose the paint colors that you desire. Stay within your budget. Organize all painting supplies. Properly prep each room for painting and begin the process. As you finish painting each room, move to the next room until all rooms are completed.

  3. Step 3

Organize the work based on all the floor coverings that you want to change. Select the floor coverings that you want for each room. There are many types of flooring to choose from such as wall to wall carpeting, area rugs, tile, vinyl, or wood flooring. More often than not, old flooring might just need to be thoroughly cleaned, or in the case of old wood floors, they might need to be refinished. Schedule the work and stick to your schedule until all of the floor changes have been completed.

  4. Step 4

Schedule the work for wall papering and window coverings at the same time. Research beforehand the best ways to remove old wall paper. Choose the wall coverings that are most complimentary to your theme/color scheme. Select window coverings which are energy efficient as well as complementary to your interior home décor. Follow through with the work and complete it.

  5. Step 5

Spruce up your home interior one room at a time. Decide what you want to accomplish in each room. As you complete one room, move to the next until all the rooms that you want to redecorate have been completed.

  6. Step 6

Categorize any of the work which needs to be done, based on whatever criteria works best for you. Additional categories to consider are as follows: Easiest Jobs, Hardest Jobs, Upstairs Jobs, Downstairs Jobs, Basement Jobs, etc.

In general, decide on a plan that works best for you and stick with it!

Tips & Warnings
  • Prepare a budget for the work. Stick to your budget
  • Make a schedule and stick to it
  • Plan to work on your projects either every day, every week or every weekend until the end of summer.
