    BOOK A PACKAGE.
Packages are made specifically to save you money. On average this means a savings in the low $300s. Use sites such as Travelocity.com, Orbitz.com, etc. for good package deals.

  2. Step 2

    STAY ON A SUNDAY.
Of course this means you'll have to take off work on Monday also, but there may be an incentive. Hotels usually have discounted rates for a Sunday night stay into Monday morning because typically travelers rush to check out Sunday morning. Hotel therefore must fill those rooms for those quiet Sunday nights. Bingo! You save.

  3. Step 3

    USE TWITTER.
Twitter folks know all about the usefulness of Twitter. Saving money on vacations is definitely one of those perks. Twitterers like Vacationinfo, LATimestravel, TheNegotiator, etc all have twitter pages to tweet about great deals. For more info, check my resources below.
