So you were proud of the new Iweb page that you made with all the fancy graphics and animations then loaded it to the internet only to find that it was nearly useless because of the long amount of time that it takes to load. While Iweb is extremely user friendly as well as very sleek with pretty designs it has an unfortunate drawback of being very heavy. This ehow guide will give you tips to making your heavy Iweb site lighter so that you can reap the benefits of your web page.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go through your website and remove any broken links or unnecessary links.

  2. Step 2

Remove unnecessary photos or modify your photos to smaller file sizes. Iweb automatically publishes its images in PNG format. While this format creates amazing graphics they are not really ideal for web pages. I suggest putting all of your images in JPEG format and doing everything you can to further compress your images. While you may loose some quality it shouldn’t be so substantial that you are not able to convey what you like.

  3. Step 3

Use only web safe fonts. Certain Apple fonts are not available on PC computers, therefore Iweb automatically converts these fonts to pictures so that it can be viewed on PC computers. This makes your web page much larger than it has to be and will greatly contribute to the slow loading time of your Iweb page. Web safe fonts include, Times New Roman, Arial, Georgia, Helvetica, and Courier New just to name a few.

  4. Step 4

Optimize your webpage using various software programs, such as Rage SEO. There are several programs out there (just google them and make sure you type specifically for Iweb) that were specifically made for Iweb to automatically reduce the size of your files as well as remove unnecessary links. There are also some programs that can tell you if your links are broken (this is especially critical if you have large amounts of links).

  5. Step 5

These are just a few of the many ways you can reduce your Iweb file size. See the webpage below for an example of a webpage that was made using these steps.
