Make Quick & Easy Mexican Bunuelos -- Cinnamon Crisps

In the mood for a quick and easy Mexican treat? Bunuelos are a cinnamon & sugary treat. Also known as Mexican Fritters, Bunuelos is a quick dessert that will settle your sweet tooth.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • package of flour tortillas
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
  • canola oil
  • frying pan
  1. Step 1

    FRYING PAN
Put a small frying pan on medium heat.

  2. Step 2

    OIL
I use canola oil, but you can use vegetable or olive oil instead. Poor enough oil in your pan to cover the bottom of the pan and allow to heat up a little.

  3. Step 3

    TORTILLAS
Purchase a ready made pack of flour tortillas. There is a recipe to make the actual bunuelo dough but this article is about a "quick & easy" way to make bunuelos.

Once the oil is hot enough, use a pair of tongs to place one flour tortilla in the pan of oil. Allow to brown on one side, you will see the tortilla start to bubble. Flip tortilla over with tongs and allow to lightly brown on the flip side.

  4. Step 4

    CINNAMON & SUGAR
Once your tortilla is browned, sprinkle equal parts of cinnamon and sugar onto both sides of your tortilla.

    or

Put equal parts of cinnamon and sugar in a bowl with a lid. Place your lightly browned tortilla in the bowl and place lid on top. Shake the bowl for a few seconds and open the lid. You will find a perfectly sprinkled Bunuelo!
