Roman shades are the easiest shade to hang.

If you're like me, I hate hanging blinds. It's a lot of work trying to get them level, centered, and getting the hangers just the right distance apart. Well, say hello to roman shades. I love these things and they are the easiest to hang!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Screw driver
  • Tape measure
  • Hammer
  • Hardware provided with shade
  1. Step 1

First, measure your window and make sure the shade will fit. I like to hold the roman shade up to the window to visually verify it will fit. Make sure you take into consideration the curtain rods and rod hangers if you have them.

  2. Step 2
You can mount roman shades on the inside or outside of a window seal.

The basic hanging of the roman shade is a simple concept. There's a bracket with a threaded bolt attached. The shade has slits in the support spine. Remember when you held the shade up to the window? What direction were the slits running? This will determine the direct you will mount the braces. As for distance apart, all you have to remember is to have the bolts end up somewhere on each slit. They don't have to be centered! You will be able to move the shade from side to side to center it later. That's the best part of all for me. I always mount my braces with the bolts facing down to the ground. I then push the shade with slits running left to right up onto the bolts.

  3. Step 3

Last, just screw on the wing nuts to hold the shade up. Flip the concealing valence over the spine to hide the hanger braces.
