How to make spicy French beans (curry)

French beans are great - steamed or fried. This is a great spicy recipe to make this extremely healthy vegetable even more delicious and sumptuous

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • French beans -200 grams
  • Chilli peppers - 20 grams
  • Tomato puree - 100 ml
  • cumin seeds
  • asafoetida (optional)
  • sunflower oil - 4 tbsp
  • black pepper - a pinch
  • ginger - half an inch
  1. Step 1

    Chop french beans and chilli peppers into small pieces , about 1/3 rd of an inch. You may choose to chop pepper slightly bigger. Peel and grind / shred ginger root.

  2. Step 2

    Heat oil to the a sauce pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger.
    (you may add some turmeric powder too)

  3. Step 3

    Quickly add chopped beans, peppers to the sauce pan. Add salt to taste and stir.

  4. Step 4

    Cover the sauce pan and cook for five minutes, then open the lid and stir and allow the beans to cook for another 5-7 minutes. ( it must be cooked by now, if not earlier)

  5. Step 5

    Add tomato puree, and black pepper. Stir and cover

  6. Step 6

    Cook (stil covered) for 2-3 minutes and take off from heat.Wait for a minute.

  7. Step 7

    You may add some lemon juice (1 tsp) or simply garnish with mint leaves, onion rings, or slices of tomatoes.

  8. Step 8

    Serve hot. Enjoy with a great bread or steamed / fried rice!

Tips & Warnings
  • You may choose to add chopped tomatoes instead of puree
  • Adding some butter when hot ( before serving) makes it ultra delicious
  • The recipe is spicy / hot.
