Blackheads occur when excess oil pools and hardens in the pores on one's skin. When the oil comes into contact with oxygen, it oxidizes and turns a gray/black color. Blackheads can also stretch out pores, making them look large and prominent. Blackheads can occur anywhere on the body including the ears. If you have short hair or often put it up in a ponytail, chances are the blackheads in your ears will be visible to others. Fight off those pesky things to reveal healthy skin.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Face towel
  • Q-tips
  • Salicylic acid gel
  • Small mesh washcloth
  • Facial scrub with beads
  1. Step 1

First, dampen a Q-tip and gently wipe your outer ears clean, removing the dirt and wax.

  2. Step 2

Soak the facial towel in warm water. Wring out excess and press the towel onto your ear to soften the skin. This will open up pores, making it easier to clear the blackheads. Hold the towel against each ear for about a minute.

  3. Step 3

Dip a clean Q-tip into the salicylic acid gel. Carefully apply the gel onto the blackheads at least once a day. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant that breaks down dirt and oil to unclog pores.

  4. Step 4

Slightly wet the mesh washcloth and apply a pea-sized amount of the facial scrub onto it. Rub the scrub onto the washcloth.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the washcloth around your forefinger and gently scrub the outer ear to get rid of the blackheads. Allow the active ingredients in the scrub to absorb into the ear skin for about a minute, then rinse off. Use the scrub about once or twice a week for best results.

Tips & Warnings
  • Discontinue use of the salicylic acid and scrub if irritation or redness occurs.
