Things You'll Need:
- white PVC lattice
- white PVC 1" water pipe
- metal rebar stakes
- galvanized wood screws
- drill bit
- electric drill
- hack saw or PVC cutter
-
Step 1
Trellis partsConstruction: PVC lattice is available at your home center in two by eight and four by eight sections. I prefer the two by eight sections for creating a trellis. You can also use scrap pieces from other projects. The trellis pictured is actually 27 inches by five feet, left over from another project.
You will also need two one inch PVC water pipe sections the length of your trellis. If the pipes are longer cut them with a PVC pipe cutter or a hack saw. Also Buy at least ten galvanized outdoor wood screws and two pieces of four foot iron rebar.
Now take your lattice and pre drill holes (make sure the holes are a little smaller than the diameter of your wood screws) along the upright edges of the lattice at the ends of the Vs. Lay your lattice on your PVC pipe and mark the drill holes with a pencil or marker and pre drill the holes in the PVC. Do this on both PVC pipes.
Screw the lattice to your two PVC pipe uprights. This will leave you with a completed trellis. -
Step 2
finished trellisInstallation: To set up your trellis determine where you want to place it. Put one rebar stake in the ground so that the PVC pipe will go over it. Pound the stakes in the ground at least one third of their length so they are firmly in the ground. Slip the pipes over the stakes and your trellis is done.
Step 3
This works great as a permanent trellis or just for the season next to potted climbing annuals plants. This also works well as a screen for garbage cans or other yard eyesores.
