Cleanse with a gentle cleanser. Do not use anything harsh or that has salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in it. Try to use a fragrance-free and soap-free cleanser such as Cetaphil.

  2. Step 2

Dry your face after washing by blotting it with a dry and soft towel. Do not handle this area of your face roughly.

  3. Step 3

Use a calming moisturizer. There are many on the market now that can help you reduce redness. Some products have anti-inflammatory ingredients such as aloe, chamomile, feverfew and green tea.

  4. Step 4

Identify what triggers your rosacea flare-ups. Spicy foods, stress and the sun are just a few things that have known to cause flare-ups.

  5. Step 5

Wear sunscreen. Not only will sunscreen help protect you from the harmful rays of the sun but it will help keep you from having a flare up.

  6. Step 6

Conceal your redness with makeup. Choose products with a green or yellow tint. Also look for mineral formulas as they have been known to not irritate sensitive skin with rosacea.

  7. Step 7

Talk to a dermatologist about your options if none of these tips are easing your symptoms. There are more clinical options out there such as laser therapy and prescription medications that treat Rosacea.

Tips & Warnings
  • Just because you have rosy cheeks, does not mean you definitely have rosacea. See a doctor for a diagnosis.
  • Try and keep a journal of your flareups to help you identify what is causing them.
  • Educate yourself-there is tons of information out there about rosacea
  • Don't spend a lot of money on products claiming to cure rosacea-nothing has been proven to cure rosacea 100%.
