How to Use Lipstick as Blush

You probably never realized you could use lipstick as blush. Lipstick is only for the lips, right? Wrong. Lipstick can be used in a variety of clever ways, and one of them involves applying it to give your cheeks a healthy hue. Imagine you've just ran out of the house to go to a fancy party, and on your way there you realize that you didn't put on any blush. As a result, your cheeks are pale and your whole face looks sallow. All you have is a tube of red lipstick. Well, guess what? You can dab a few spots on each cheek to brighten up your face, and beautify your complexion.

Things You'll Need:

• A tube of lipstick

1. 

   Choose a red, pink or peach colored lipstick. You can also use a bronze colored lipstick to give your face a sunkissed glow. Wash your hands to get rid of bacteria as you will be using your fingers to apply the lipstick as blush.

2. 

   Swipe some color from the lipstick onto your fingertip. About three swipes should be enough color for each cheek. Don't exceed five swipes of lipstick or you'll end up with a mess on your hands.

3. 

   Dab three spots of the lipstick onto the apples of your cheeks in a triangular pattern. Add more or less depending on how much color your want on your cheeks. Keep in mind that lipstick is highly pigmented, and the color will be very noticeable.

4. 

   Using a clean finger, blend the lipstick in outward strokes on your cheekbones toward your hairline. Blend until all telltale lines have softened and disappeared.

Tips & Warnings

• Use a matte lipstick for the most realistic blush color.
• Use a glossy lipstick if you want some light sparkle on your cheeks.
• Don't use lipgloss as blush. It will feel sticky and look unnatural.
