You know you should eat right and you have the best intentions until your sweet tooth starts calling. Gaining weight doesn't even enter your mind as you start munching on whatever sweet and sugary thing you can find. Have hope! It is possible to satisfy a sweet tooth without gaining weight. Here's how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

How to satisfy the chocolate sweet tooth: America's obsession can quickly add major weight gain. You don't have to stay away completely to maintain your weight, but you must use some control. My picks: Jello chocolate pudding (100 calorie cups), cup of chocolate milk (The milk provides much calcium and protein which satisfies your hunger. The chocolate is an added bonus!) and Nestle miniatures (stash a couple of these to tame an on the go sweet tooth)

  2. Step 2

How to satisfy the lingering sweet tooth: To satisfy a sweet tooth that won't be satisfied quickly, find treats that take a while to indulge in. My picks: Icee Freezer Pops (these popsicle are only 20 calories each. Added benefit? They make you feel like a kid again!) Suckers (once more, relatively low in calories and if you suck till it is gone you have a lasting stream on sugar to satisfy)

  3. Step 3

How to satisfy the substantial sweet tooth. So you say these little things aren't getting it done? Sometimes a big sweet tooth calls for a big treat. The key is portion control. My picks: sorbet or sherbet (easier on the waistline than ice cream) Angel Food cake-with or without strawberries (Who says you can't maintain your weight and eat your cake too?)

on 10/29/2009 Alright! I thought I actually had to wait for all my teeth to fall out of my head before I could get rid of my sweet tooth. Although, I have a couple of sweet tooths so I'm clearly at a disadvantage here, but your article has given me sweet victory over my sweet tooth cravings. S-W-E-E-T!
