Instructions

    • 1

Learn to ollie with consistency and at least the height of a curb.

    • 2

As you crouch to jump, wind up your torso in the opposite direction, with your forward hand crossing in front of your body toward your back foot. It is much easier to ollie 180 frontside (that is, turning your front foot backwards as you turn).

    • 3

As you begin to ollie, unwind and spin your torso 180 degrees to face in the opposite direction.

    • 4

Use your front foot as it drags up the board to turn the board 180 degrees, following the motion of your torso, so that you end up rolling backwards. Your whole body should follow and be carried along with your torso.

    • 5

Land facing the opposite direction and rolling backwards. Your weight should remain centered at all times. Bending your knees is crucial to keeping your balance and absorbing the shock of landing.

Tips & Warnings

  • This trick is easier when rolling at a slow to moderate speed. Learn on a flat surface.

  • If your weight is not centered when you land, you will very likely shoot your board and fall. Wear pads and wrist guards when learning.

When you go to spin, turn your waist first. Once you do this, the rest of your body will follow.

When you try the 180 ollie the first time, your board is probably going to spin the direction you want it to. However, you are probably not going to. To keep your feet on, try to keep the board level as you spin and then fall dead weight to the ground. Try not to hesitate. To practice, try doing it without the board, but with your feet alone.

Step 1. Go at a moderate speed or however fast you think is right for you. Put your back foot at the back edge of the board and your front foot at the back of the bolts of the front trucks. Step 2. Push down with your back foot and slide your front foot up the board slightly (do not slide your foot off the board unless you want to do a kickflip). Step 3. As you land, bend your knees (this is essential). Try getting faster and faster, then try ollieing down curbs, up curbs, over a jumper, and then put it to the test on a ramp or a half pipe.

    1. Put your back foot on the tail. 2. Put your front foot on the center of your board. 3. Bend your knees, then pop your back foot down has hard as you can. As soon as the back of the board hits the ground, slide your front foot up. Your back foot and your front foot should be on the screws of your board. Tip - The harder you pop the board, and the faster you slide your foot, the higher you will go.

First things first. You have to know how to ollie about as high as a 2 liter bottle of Mountain Dew. The next step is to rotate your body in the opposite direction of the way you are going to spin. Spin your body and board in the direction that you want to spin. Land, and ride away clean.
