A simple technique using spray paint and leaves to create excellent an excellent camouflage effect on hunting stands or hunting blinds, especially those that have at least one solid wall.

Many hunters build their own hunting stands and hunting blinds. Some hunters use camouflage material stapled on their stands; however, good quality camouflage material can get expensive if you are coverage a large area.

Using this technique with spray paint will yield better results, the paint is more durable than material, and the supplies are cheaper. It is a win/win scenario for the hunter and the budget.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two or Three Colors of Spray Paint to Create the Camouflage Palette
  • Large and Small Leaves (optional)
  • Nails or Tacks (optional)
  1. Step 1

Place the pieces to be painted in an open area suitable for using spray paint. If the hunting stand is already build, place the sand in an open area suitable for spray painting.

  2. Step 2

Starting with the largest lead, like a palm frond, hold or tack the leaf on the wall of the stand and spray a darker color (black, dark green, or dark brown) around the perimeter of the leave. This will give an outline effect.

Continue this along the whole stand.

  3. Step 3

Select a medium leaf and another spray paint color. Hold or tack the leaf in the middle of the outline of the palm leaf and spray the perimeter to create an outline. Repeat for the entire stand.

  4. Step 4

Select a smaller leaf and the light spray color, hold or tack this leaf in the center of the medium lead outline. Now spray around the perimeter of the small leaf. Repeat this around the entire stand.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using the leaves gives a very cool effect camouflage effect for the entire hunting stand.
  • If using the leaves is too complicated, just spray blotches of colors for the basic camouflage look.
  • Use the appropriate eye safety wear while spray painting.
