Things You'll Need:
- Patience.
- Commitment to frugal living.
- Flexibility in your life.
-
Step 1
Reduce the amount of space that you need to live in. College students save money by sharing homes, apartments and even their rooms. This allow them to split the cost of rent, utilities and household goods. Consider renting out a room in your own home or moving to a smaller place to save money.
-
Step 2
Make a concentrated effort to reduce what you spend on food. College students look for happy hour specials, grocery bargains and cheap eats that go a logn way (like rice and beans).
-
Step 3
Avoid spending money when you go out. College students love free sports events, outdoor movie nights, cheap dates and inexpensive road trips. Stop paying money for museums and theatre events and start enjoying free entertainment again.
-
Step 4
Don't spend what you don't have. There are certainly some college students that get into trouble with credit card debt but there are also a lot who make do with what they have from paycheck to paycheck. Learn to be a bit more like that again.
-
Step 5
Be humble enough to accept jobs that you might think are "beneath you". You can get a part-time job stocking shelves or waiting tables and make some side income if you're humble enough to think that you can learn something from this experience.
