Instructions

    • 1

Write each score on a piece of paper, making sure there are no duplicates. Count how many individual scores there are and record this number. Label it "n."

    • 2

Calculate the sum of the scores, and record this number. Label the number "sum." Sometimes the word sum is denoted by the Greek uppercase letter Sigma.

    • 3

Divide the sum of the scores by the count of individual scores, n. Record this number, and label it "mean."

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to double-check your numbers to ensure accuracy. Label all numbers and calculations for easier revision and checking. Cross out scores as they are summed to prevent using a single score twice.
