Things You'll Need:
- Weighted golf training aid
-
Step 1
Grip the weighted training aid. Most training aids have a premolded grip to ensure the correct hand placement on the club.
-
Step 2
Set up like a normal golf shot. Training clubs are shorter, so it is not necessary for the club to reach the ground. Taking the normal set-up position should place the club 6 to 12 inches above the ground.
-
Step 3
Swing the weighted club at half the speed of a normal golf shot. With the weighted club it will be easy to feel how the club is moving and force your swing to be on plane with a proper release at impact.
-
Step 4
Swing multiple times with the weighted club until you have a good feel of the swing motion.
-
Step 5
Take a regular club and hit balls trying to keep the same feeling that was created with the weighted club. After hitting 5 to 10 balls go back to the weighted club and repeat until your swinging motion feels the same with both the weighted training club and the regular club.
