How to Convert a MOV File to Windows Media Player Format

MOV is the format used for media that is opened in Apple's QuickTime player. This program comes with all Mac computers and can be downloaded online as well. However, because these files are specific only to QuickTime, you have to have the program installed for the files to play correctly. One way to avoid having to download the program to use these files is to convert them to Windows Media Player format, or WMV. This format is compatible with all Windows OS systems.

Instructions

1. Go to the Shareware Guide website (see Resources) and click "Free Download." Click "Save As" when the download begins. You will use this program to convert your MOV file to WMP format.

2. Click "Run," then complete the installation setup. Click "Run ImToo MOV Converter." Click "Finish" to open the program.

3. Click the down arrow icon next to "Profile" and select "WMV-Windows Media Video." Click the "Browse" icon next to "Destination" and choose where you want to save the converted file.

4. Go to "File," then Add Files" and browse for the MOV file you want to convert. Click "Open."

5. Click the red "Record" button to convert your MOV file to WMV.
