1
Remove any labels from your candle jars by soaking them off. Use glass cleaner to polish the surface of the glass to remove residue.
-
2
Choose an overall pattern and size it to your jar. Do this by reducing or enlarging it on a copy machine. Tape it around the jar. Place tracing paper between the pattern and the jar and use a stylus to trace the pattern onto the glass.

3
Use a small foam brush and paint etching cream onto certain parts of your pattern. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to complete the etching process. You decide which areas will be opaque and which areas will be painted.

4
Use glass paint to complete the project. Place each color on the candle jar with a foam paintbrush. Allow the colors to dry before placing another one adjacent, to avoid color bleeding.
-
5
Remove any remaining tracing lines with a cotton swab. Finish with two light coats of acrylic spray.

Tips & Warnings
There are many different methods to use in glass painting that can make your candle jar look spectacular. A simple faux etching method is to mask off a design on the jar and then spray with several coats acrylic spray. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next.
