Apple laptops offer several different options for the resolution size of your screen. Small resolutions will make objects on your screen appear larger, but they can also appear fuzzy or pixelated. On the other hand, setting the display to a wide screen or large resolution will make objects appear clear, but may make objects too small to read. Choose a dimension that is native to your laptop or adjust to one that is more comfortable for your vision and for the uses of your laptop.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the Apple icon on the top left corner of your laptop screen. This opens a drop down menu with a list of options.

  2. Step 2

Choose the "System Preferences" option, which opens a dialog box containing a series of icons.

  3. Step 3

Select the "Displays" icon under the "Hardware" section. Another dialog box will open and in this box there will be a list of resolutions. Please note that the options may vary depending on which Apple laptop you own.

  4. Step 4

Click on one of the resolution options listed. Your screen will automatically update to the new resolution.

  5. Step 5

Close out of the dialog box and your resolution will be set until you decide to change it.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may get an error message telling you that some software won't display correctly in a specific resolution. You can still use that resolution, but it may cause objects on the screen to be stretched or get cut off.
