How to Grill Asparagus on the Stove
Grilled asparagus is a healthy side dish or appetizer. One serving of asparagus, amounting to half a cup of asparagus, contains 35 percent of your daily recommended intake of folate. Folate is essential for the production of red blood cells and general body function. When summer weather has gone or you're short on a backyard grill, asparagus can be grilled on a griddle pan. It's a simple way to cook a tender vegetable, and get the nutrients that every body needs. Add this to my Recipe Box.

1
Wash the asparagus. Bend each asparagus until the woody part breaks off. Tie the asparagus together into a bundle with a piece of string.
-
2
Stand the asparagus up in the saucepan. Fill the pot with water until it comes just below the asparagus tip. Bring the water to a boil. Boil the asparagus for two to three minutes. Transfer it to the ice water to prevent it from cooking any further.

3
Make a dressing for the asparagus. Mix two tablespoons of lemon juice, three tablespoons of olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste. Turn the asparagus in the dressing until it's coated. Heat the griddle.

4
Lay the asparagus on the hot griddle. Grill the asparagus on the griddle pan for about three minutes on each side, until there are marks from the pan on the asparagus. There should be a series of darker lines on the asparagus before you turn it.
