Step 1
COMPARE RATES - Compare the actual interest rates of the credit cards. If a card offers a low introductory rate, but then increases the rate in 6 months, go by the increased rate. The introductory rate is just a tease and will not help you in the long run. You should also check into interest rate hikes. Under what circumstances will they raise your interest rate?
-
Step 2
COMPARE YEARLY FEES - Find out if there is a yearly fee for the credit card you wish to apply for. Cards that have yearly fees should not be considered. Only apply for credit cards that do not have yearly fees.
-
Step 3
FEES - Compare all fees of all of the credit cards you are considering. Fees such as late payment fees, over the limit fees, balance transfer fees, yearly fees, and other fees that the credit card company may come up with.
-
Step 4
COMPARE BENEFITS - Look into any potential benefits of the credit card. Does it offer free airline miles, cash back, or other rewards? Do not consider things such as designing your own card, low introductory interest rates, or the brand name of the card (such as American Express, Visa, or Mastercard) when you are choosing a card. These things do not matter in the long run.
You can easily compare credit cards online to quickly and easily find a card that is right for you.
