Step 1
First do the basic look over on your pair of jeans. Check if there are any unwanted holes. I know that there is a ripped jeans trend but you want to see if there are any rips and tears where you don't want them to be. Check if there are any holes on the back side or crotch area.
-
Step 2
Also check if there are any stains on the jeans.
-
Step 3
When you are trying on the jeans, make sure your underwear are not showing over your jeans. This means that your jeans don't fit you well. It may mean that they are too big and they are sliding down or that they are cut to be "low rider" jeans.
-
Step 4
Make sure the crotch area isn't too tight. Sit down and see if it is too tight. Move around a little bit. If it is too tight, then the jeans are a no-no.
-
Step 5
Check if there is a gap in the back. Sometimes you can fix that gap with a belt. Usually its a good sign that the jeans aren't the highest quality and they probably won't fit.
-
Step 6
If you bend your knees and the jeans bite into your skin, they are not sewn to fit your body.
-
Step 7
Make sure that when you sit, the bottom of your jeans should not be positioned half an inch higher than your ankles. If they are any higher, they are too short. If you are standing and more than one inch of your jeans is dragging on the floor then your jeans are too long.
-
Step 8
If your jeans are really tight in the hips, they are too SMALL!!! You must part with them. Unfortunately, you must keep looking.
-
Step 9
Now check your jeans for holes again. Also check if all zippers and buttons are intact. Check for stains. Good places to check for stains and tears are along the hem and inseam and the back.

on 6/1/2009 Great Article on try on jeans. I hate when people show off their underware. It just looks awful.
