Step 1
Get Rid of the Stinger to Treat Bee Stings
The first thing you need to do to treat a bee sting is to check and see if the stinger is still in your skin. If the stinger is still in your skin from the bee sting you need to remove it by gently scraping it out with your finger nail. Be careful not to pull or squeeze to hard because you can release more venom. Remove the stinger as fast as possible because the longer it stays in the more venom that is released. This is the first step to treat bee stings. -
Step 2
Check for Allergic Reactions to Treat Bee Stings
The next thing you will want to do is make sure the person bitten is not allergic to the bee sting. Check to make sure the person isn't short of breath, dizzy, having trouble breathing, or becoming swollen in anyway. If you see any symptom other than pain, go to the hospital immediately when treating a bee sting. -
Step 3
Take a Painkiller to Treat A Bee Sting
The next thing you will want to do to treat a bee sting is to take an over the counter painkiller like Advil or aspirin. This will help ease the pain and also help with inflammation. -
Step 4
Wash the Skin to Treat a Bee Sting
Wash the area of your skin that was bitten with soap and warm water to help clean the bee sting site and potentially remove some of the bee venom which will help reduce the pain. -
Step 5
Apply Ice to Treat the Bee Sting
The next thing you should do is wrap some ice in a towel and place the ice on the sting for at least 20 minutes. Apply anytime the bee sting site starts to hurt again. Ice is a great treatment for bee stings because it stops the venom from traveling and it numbs the pain. -
Step 6
Buy Creams to Treat Bee Stings
If nothing else works, you can buy creams to help treat bee stings. Calamine lotion like Caladryl will work as will Hydrocortisone Cream and Benzocaine Sticks to treat bee stings.
