This article will teach you how to throw a fast and accurate 4-seam fastball.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Baseball
  • A Glove
  1. Step 1

The grip on the 4-seam fastball is simple. Put your index and middle finger across the horseshoe of the seams. Make sure they are perpendicular with the seams. Do the same thing with your thumb along the bottom of the ball. Keep your ring and pinkie fingers clenched.

  2. Step 2

Bring your leg up. At the same time, point your foot so that the toes are pointing down. This is the hard part. At the same time you extend your leg, push off the rubber and bring your two arms out. Make sure your arms are on the same line.

  3. Step 3

Bend your arm at a 45 degree angle, then bring it forward as hard as you can. As it comes over your head, straighten it out. When you release the ball, snap your wrist for extra power.

  4. Step 4

The follow-through is very important. Bring your throwing arm down and across your body, so that it is touching the opposite hip. At the same time bring your body down so that your chest is pointing at the ground. Bring your back leg around so that you are standing in a fielding position.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always warm up before you start really pitching
  • Work on accuracy before speed
  • Throw as hard as you can while maintaining accuracy
  • Always follow through
  • Do not throw harder than your arm can handle
