Kill any ants you find in the house. Us a spray bottle filled with water, crushed chalk, baking soda and a few drops of water. Crush what ants you can, and use the spray to kill the others. They'll carry the mix back to other ants and kill even more. (This works on roaches too.)

2
Use a stick of chalk and draw heavy lines around any window gaps door cracks, or other spaces where you see ants entering the home. The ants will not cross a chalk line.
-
3
Go outside and draw chalk line on the outer side of any gaps where ants enter.

4
Vines and weeds will give ants easy access to windows and other high cracks. Remove all vines, plants and weeds that are leaning up against the home.
-
5
Use the spray bottle to kill any ants on the outside of the home, and spray it around any ant mounds you see.
-
6
Grind up chalk and sift it around the perimeter of your home.

To kill nests, or at least severely damage the population, pour the same mix as you have in your spray bottles down into the ant mounds. You can also invert a clear glass bowl over the mound opening and leave it there all day. The glass concentrates the heat of the sun and bakes the ants in the nest.
