Step 1
First, set yourself up with your camera and tripod somewhere with decent light. Generally, the subject of a photo needs to be facing the light, so when you are taking your MySpace photo, make sure the light is coming from above or in front of you, not behind. If there is light behind you, turn them off, or choose a different spot.
( You can check the resources to learn how to upload pictures to your MySpace) -
Step 2
Now either set your timer and tripod or friend up to take your MySpace profile picture. IF you are using a web camera, this is much easier to do, you can simply click the appropriate button when ready, and just try to make sure your arms isn't in the shot reaching for your keyboard or mouse.
If you are using a timer and tripod, make sure that you will be seen in the photo. No matter how you are actually taking your MySpace photo, be prepared to have a couple of attempts to get it right. -
Step 3
Once you are happy with your photograph, upload it to your PC. We are going to resize the photo ourselves, as the graphics programs we have on our pc's are better than the ones used on MySpace to squish photos on the fly.
Open up your photo manipulation software, most cameras come with some, Adobe sells multiple applications for image manipulation such as Photoshop, or you can try the GIMP for an open source alternative. Once the software has loaded open the picture and click on the resize button in your application.
Make sure that scale proportionally or keep scale is checked and then change the pixel values to 170 x 170. Perform the operation and save the file as something like “MySpaceprofilepic.jpg” and you are done. Head off to your MySpace account and upload your new profile picture.
