Step 1
Get a copy of your credit report, and read it carefully. If there are any listed items that are incorrect, you can dispute them with the credit reporting company. If your credit score has been lowered due to incorrect information, or identity theft, disputing the items can get them removed, which will fix a bad credit report.
-
Step 2
Your credit score depends on a lot of different factors, including the amount of credit you have available. If you have 2 credit cards, and they are both charged to the limit, your score will be lower than if you have 3 credit cards, and the same total amount is divided between the cards. In order to fix a bad credit report caused by being too close to your limits, you can pay down the cards that are close to their credit limit.
-
Step 3
Paying bills on time will help fix a bad credit report. If you have past delinquencies, all you can do is ensure that all payments in the future are made on time, and in full. This will eventually fix a bad credit score.
