Things You'll Need:
- research materials
-
Step 1
Make a list of things desired in a church. Questions of one's self will determine what kind of church one would like to attend. Examples of this are: "Do I like churches that embrace and love all people no matter what?" "What do I believe about communion?" "What kinds of charitable activities does the church have?" will help determine what is desired in a church.
-
Step 2
Research churches belief systems. What Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Baptists, non denominational, Catholics, etc. have as core beliefs will help determine selection of a church according to one's own beliefs. This can be done online, by gathering materials at local churches, calling the church and asking about the church while taking notes, and/or using materials gathered from a local library.
-
Step 3
Compare the the materials gathered to the list of compiled qualities desired in a church. Pick a few churches that most closely resemble the list of desired qualities.
-
Step 4
Visit the churches chosen and see what they are truly like for services and activities. Visit often enough to get a good idea if it is the desired church.
-
Step 5
If a church that is desired is found, feel free to join it. If not, try some of the other churches on the list or do some more research until a good church is found that is a good fit.
