Step 1
Check your school handbook to see where you can stretch the uniform. For example my school said, "black shoes." That left a gaping whole for me to take advantage of.
-
Step 2
Your Look. Wash and style your hair every morning, that in itself is a statement. For a polish look try glossy lips, subtle blush, mascara and cover blemish, then personalize it. Play up your favorite feature.
-
Step 3
Accessories. Try feathered headbands, floral clip or neon elastics. Try stores like WetSeal, Fred Flare and GirlProps.com. Also jewelery, whether it be crazy (printed bangles) or sentimental (a rosary). Don't forget belts!
-
Step 4
Shoes. Stay within the limits but try different materials, brands, laces and hosiery (knee highs are my favorite).
-
Step 5
Nail Polish. Fingers & Toes. Don't worry about matching.
-
Step 6
Bags: function before fun. Try stores like Burton and Roxy. Remember that school bags don't have to be backpacks. Try totes!
-
Step 7
T-Shirts & Cardigans. Underneath polos or unbuttoned button downs. Try bright colors and cool patterns for good layering. Try classic cardigans with interesting prints or fabrics for chilly classrooms.

on 5/30/2009 As soanywaqy said, pay it forward. So I am! Really cool ideas for a lady to understand how to spice up a uniform. My friend wears uniforms to work as an esthetician. I'll be sure she reads this. BTW, I have a policy to invite new members to be my friend ONLY after I've read their first 1 or 2 articles. Would you mind reading and commenting on a few of mine? I won't get upset if you recommend after you rate, if you feel I'm worthy. You earned 5***** and a recommend vfor this; really great ideas.
