1. Search your house and take inventory of things no longer used by you and the family. Include the living room, bedrooms, basements, baby room, kitchen, your jewelry collections, tools and the car. You may be able to raise cash from items used throughout the house.

3. Become a member on several online social and market places; such as eBay, Etsy and Facebook to list the items. Some of these offer free listings and some charge small fees. Check out the competition and find out how much other sellers are charging for similar items.

4. Consider putting the following used items for sale to raise cash; your clothes, baby clothes, baby gear, car seats, camaras, CDs, DVDs, electronics, books, old car tires, paintings, jewelry, watches, kitchen wares, sheets, tools, sport memorabilia, home decorations, and things made by you.

5. Determine the payment method you are going to accept. For example, using Paypal is very convenient and secured. There are other methods you can use. Be aware of payment frauds and never meet buyers by yourself alone.
