Things You'll Need:
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup white corn syrup
- 1 cup of nuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. butter
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- microwave safe dish
-
Step 1
First, take all the ingredients for your peanut brittle that you will need and measure them out so that you will be ready to just add them when you need too. This is important because your peanut brittle will get stiff while trying to measure the ingredients if not done before hand.
-
Step 2
Pour a cup of sugar and a one half cut of corn syrup into a glass bowl or microwave safe dish.
-
Step 3
Microwave the sugar and corn syrup for three to four minutes on high in the microwave.
-
Step 4
Remove the bowl from the microwave with pot holders and add the cup of peanuts to the mixture. Try to mix it the best you can, but be quick and put it back in the microwave.
-
Step 5
Microwave the ingredients for two to three minutes.
-
Step 6
Remove from the microwave and add one teaspoon of vanilla flavoring and one teaspoon of butter to the peanut brittle mixture, then microwave another one or one and half minutes.
-
Step 7
Remove from the microwave and add a teaspoon of baking soda to the peanut brittle. It will start to foam. Once it is mixed good and before it loses its foam, start pouring the mixture into a small greased cookie sheet.
-
Step 8
Let this mixture sit for approximately 20 seconds and start trying to spread and stretch it to the thickness you prefer your peanut brittle. It is best to take an oven mitt and place a baggie over the mitt so that your mitt doesn’t stick to the peanut brittle while trying to spread it. Remember this cannot be done until your peanut brittle is cooled just a little bit in order for it not to melt the plastic baggie.
-
Step 9
Put the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes so that it will harden quicker.
-
Step 10
Take the peanut brittle out of the refrigerator and break it apart. Enjoy!
