Unfortunately there is no cure for keratosis pilaris, the skin condition that leaves little red bumps on the back of your upper arms and thighs. There are, however some at-home treatments you can implore to lessen the visual effects of the condition.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • alpha hydroxy acid cream
  • carrot juice
  • sun and sunscreen
  • loofah
  1. Step 1

Apply alpha hydroxy creams to your arms and thighs several times a day. Alpha hydroxy acid is a wonderful ingrediant to have in your body cream or lotion. This helps exfoliate the skin and deeply moisturize it. Both can help in reducing the appearance of those little red bumps.

  2. Step 2

Drink carrot juice everyday. Keratosis pilaris occurs because your body is creating an excess amount of keratin in your body. Beta carotene can help block the production of keratin. Many people with keratosis pilaris will drink a glassful of carrot juice a day or take vitamin A pills to help slow down the production of keratin.

  3. Step 3

Get a little tan. Those with darker skin find that their bumps are less noticable than those with fairer skin. It sort of hides the look of the little red bumps. You can safely tan twice a week for 15 minutes at a time, wearing sunblock.

  4. Step 4

Use a loofah in the shower. But don't overdo it. Overscrubbing can irritate the skin further. So do exfoliate with a loofah, but be gentle.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you start to see results, keep up the regimine. Because if you don't, the appearance will return quickly.
  • Keratosis Pilaris is a condition that will never go away.
