How to Convert WAV Into DTS
The DTS format is a file type for digital audio surround sound audio files. If you have a WAV audio file that you want to convert into a DTS file, you will need to use an audio converter that supports DTS output. SurCode for Dolby Digital Stereo Encoder and Decoder is an audio converter program that can do the WAV to DTS conversion for you.

Navigate to the Minnetonka Audio Software website (see Resources).

Download and install the SurCode for Dolby Digital Stereo Encoder and Decoder to your computer. While there is a demo of the software, you'll have to pay to download a full version (around $600 as of 2009).

Launch SurCode for Dolby Digital Stereo Encoder and Decoder on your computer. Add the left track by clicking "Left" and selecting the WAV file.

Add the right track by clicking "Right" and selecting the same WAV file. You have to have a left and a right track to convert to DTS. To do this from WAV, use the same WAV file for each side.

Click "Destination" to pick a location for the output of the new DTS file. Also select DTS as the file type from the drop-down menu. Click "OK" to return to the main screen.

Start the DTS conversion by clicking "Encode." A progress meter will appear as the files convert. When the conversion is complete, the progress meter screen will disappear and the DTS file will be available for playback.
