How to Use CuteFTP Pro

CuteFTP is a desktop software program that automates commands to upload files to an FTP server more easily. CuteFTP is normally used by website owners or administrators who are unfamiliar with typical FTP syntax. If you're not familiar with how to use an FTP desktop software program, here are the basic steps to upload files to your host server.

How to Use CuteFTP Pro to Upload Files

1. Connect to your host server provider. Go to the "Files" menu, and click "Connect" and then "Connection Wizard." Enter the IP of your FTP host and the username and password provided by your website host provider.

2. Select the files to upload. On the left of the CuteFTP window, navigate to the local folder that has the files you want to upload.

3. Highlight one or many files. The files you highlight are the ones you want to upload. Drag and drop the highlight files in the window on the right (your FTP site).

4. Remove excess files. For any files that were copied accidentally, delete them from the right menu.

5. Transfer files from the FTP host to your computer. Occasionally, you may need to transfer from your FTP server to the local file system. Highlight the files on the right window and drag and drop them to the left window to reverse steps 1-4.
