How to Remove Bubble Alerts in Windows XP

Windows XP bubble alerts are great when they alert you to a problem with your computer. Unfortunately, the alerts are often more intrusive and annoying then helpful. With just a few simple steps you can get rid of bubble alerts in Windows XP.

Instructions

    How to Remove Bubble Alerts in Windows XP

  1. Step 1

    Click Start>Run. Type "regedit" without the quotes.

  2. Step 2

    Navigate to the following folder:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advanced

  3. Step 3

    Right-click the right window pane and select New>DWORD VALUE. Name the value EnableBalloonTips.

  4. Step 4

    Double-click EnableBalloonTips. Type 0 in the value box.

  5. Step 5

    Close the registry editor and restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

Tips & Warnings
  • Back up your computer registry. Deleting or modifying any entries in the registry can cause your computer to work incorrectly.
