How to Restore DBX Files

Outlook Express is a useful tool that you can use to access various types of email. However, if your storage folders become corrupted, you may lose access to your emails. Luckily, there are ways to fix corrupted DBX files and extract important information from them so you do not permanently lose your personal emails.

Instructions

1. Regularly back up your Outloook DBX email files. Choose the automatic back up feature from the Outlook Express menu.

2. Import a backed-up DBX file in Outlook by selecting the "File" and "Import" menu option. Choose the DBX file and click "Next."

3. Restore an Outlook storage folder. Choose the folder(s) in the import dialog box and click "Next" on the menu, followed by "OK." You email will now be restored.

4. If DBX file corruption occurs again in a short amount of time, reload Microsoft Outlook.
