How to Decorate a Bedroom With a Basketball Theme

Things You'll Need
- Paint for walls and floor (1 gallon each) Paint for stenciled accents (1 pint each) Polyurethane Hardboard or plywood for headboard (one sheet 4 by 8 feet) Blackboard paint (1 quart) White paint (1 quart) Framed cork board Team jersey Mural or posters Lumber (1 by 4 inches) Team pennants Fabric to match curtains Basketball hoop Laundry basket Purchased basketball themed curtains

Remove all furniture from the room.

Paint the floor with the darkest shade of the chosen basketball team colors. Apply at least two coats of paint. Allow to dry according to the paint container directions. Paint lines on the floor to resemble one half of a basketball court. Apply a coat of polyurethane finish when paint is thoroughly dry to seal

Paint the walls in the lighter shade of the team colors.

Cut the hardboard or plywood for the bed headboard to dimensions required to fit the bed. Apply two coats of the blackboard paint. Paint lines around the edges of the headboard and horizontally to create a scoreboard. Attach to the wall.

Hang posters (framed if desired) on the wall. A wallpaper mural of basketball players can be used to cover one of the opposite walls or in lieu of the posters.

Tips & Warnings
The basketball hoop over the laundry basket can be freestanding to avoid damage to the wall.
